This is Sophie. In July of last year whilst she was volunteering at a children’s summer camp in Poland, Sophie suffered an acute caridac arrest. She received CPR at the scene, and was rushed to hospital where she suffered a further two arrests. Her oxygen supply to her brain was interrupted. Sophie spent weeks in ITU and months in the acute hospital. She is now home where she continues to defy the odds.

In a bid to raise awareness of cardiac arrests in young people, and buy vital equipment, a group of Sophie’s friends and family will be cycling 40 miles from Farnham to Hayling Island. Riders include Grant Taylor (Bryland’s Installation Manager) and his son Kurt who is getting married June 2022 to Melissa (Sophie’s sister). The charity bike ride takes place on 18^th September to raise funds for two organisations; Cardiac Arrest in The Young (CRY) which provides cardiac screening for young adults aged 14 -35, and The NHS Guildford Community Neuro Team. This small team of therapists have been crucial to Sophie’s recovery and the money raised will help buy vital equipment to help other patients like Sophie receive neuro rehab.
