Aspirating Systems

Aspirating detection systems work by catching the smallest indication of fire at the pre-combustion stage before there is any visible evidence of smoke or flames. The average speed of detection can be up to 30 times quicker than a conventional detection system.

An aspirating smoke detector uses a central detection unit which draws air through a network of pipes and can typically detect smoke before it is visible to the naked eye.

In most cases aspirating smoke detectors require a fan unit to draw in a sample of air from the protected area through its network of pipes. They are suitable for environments where a highly sensitive rapid smoke detection capability is required. This makes them suitable in clean rooms; areas which contain goods easily damaged by fire, electronic rooms and highly flammable liquid and gases.

Aspirating Smoke Detection systems can detect fires at a very early stage, often before the visible smouldering begins, and before an open fire occurs or intense smoke develops. They can detect fires significantly faster than point or beam smoke detectors allowing a fast response to the first signs of smoke.
