FM200 is a synthetic/chemical fire suppression gas and extinguishes a fire by removing the free radicals or heat elements from the fire triangle. (Oxygen, Heat and Fuel).

Installation of New FM200®  Systems is becoming less popular due to Reductions of the quantity of FM200® being available on the market.

The total quantity of HFC’s placed on the market will be reduced between 2016 and 2030, with the quantities in 2030 reduced to 21% of the average annual quantities available on the market between 2009 and 2012. The quantities will be in accordance with the table below. It should be noted however that HFC’s have many other uses than fire protection (which is a very small user) and so the total quantity available to fire protection in the future is at this stage unknown.

This reduction in availability of FM200 may cause the cost of it to rise in the future which should be considered for recharging etc.

Existing FM200® Systems

If you have an existing FM200 System that is due it’s 10 year re-certification please contact us. We offer a Service Exchange process for existing system and we also offer a free survey for upgrade of your system to 3M™ Novec™ 1230 Fire Protection Fluid. It is normally possible for the existing system pipe work to be re-used (with minor modifications). The discharge nozzles and storage cylinders will need replacing with specific Novec types however by changing to Novec you will be ensuring that you have a modern, environmentally friendly system for many years to come.
