Media provider returns to Bryland for another FM200 Fire Suppression System Install.
Bryland Fire have a longstanding return customer who is one of the major players in the Domestic Media market supplying TV and Internet via Fibre among other services. As you can imagine, this market is at the moment growing exponentially with our customer taking market share all the time.
As they are continually growing and gaining more subscribers, then the need for them to grow their infrastructure is continual and was demonstrated very recently at one of their sites in North London.
At the site in question, there was a requirement for a new UPS Room to support both UPS units and Batteries and as both are a high fire risk then it was left to Bryland Fire to design, supply, install and commission a new FM200 fire suppression system. The one cylinder was located in a room adjacent to the protected room so the room space was maximised and within the room was installed discharging pipework and nozzles for the Room Space and Under Floor void.
An added complication was that the room is quite an odd shape, it had a large ceiling beam which meant that at least a third of the room volume had to be treated as a separate enclosure according to the regulations, but added to that was that there is a very small enclosure within the room which also had to be treated as a separate enclosure with its own Smoke detection and Discharge pipwork/nozzle.
The system was designed to be triggered by conventional, coincidence wired, optical smoke detectors – all in line with BS EN 15002 and BS 6266:2011. This makes false alarms, and more importantly false discharges, almost impossible.
Another great FM200 install, the latest in a long line. Delivered to their specification and in their timescales. As there were other companies involved in building and fitting out the room at the same time as the FM200 system was being installed to hit the deadlines, space was an issue – but we all managed to work around each other to get everything in.
