We are delighted to have played our part at this Slough based data centre, where we designed and installed an extensive fire alarm, suppression and detection system that covered two storeys and across 34 areas of the building. Equipment including over 6,500 kgs of Sapphire Novec 1230, 40 x Vesda-E aspirating detectors, 11 x Gent Vigilon Analogue Addressable Fire Alarm control panels, a Gent WINMAG Graphics System, and 34 x Kentec Sigma XT+ extinguishant control panels will all protect and secure the client against Class A fires and reduce risk to their sensitive data cabinets, switchgear, and communications equipment.

Lithium-Ion (or Li-Ion batteries) – are crucial for providing portable power for modern-day electronic devices including server racks, laptops, power tools, medical equipment, and electric vehicles. On the plus side, lithium-ion batteries provide energy-efficient storage, but they are inherently flammable and if used incorrectly are at risk of exploding, or short-circuiting.

With this in mind, Honeywell has launched the Li-ion Tamer® Rack Monitoring System, a plug and play device that provides an effective early warning detection at the critical stage of battery failure. Li-ion Tamer® can detect a single cell failure and works between the off-gas and smoke stages before thermal runaway or a fire has had time to take hold. Li-ion Tamer® detects off-gas from lithium-ion batteries and ideal to be incorporated as part of an overall fire detection and fire suppression solution.

Congratulations…. to Cannon Technologies who have received Uptime Institute approval on their first Data Centre (100kw IT Load) system. The initial 64.46m² build, supports 16 IT racks and cooled using energy-efficient direct expansion (DX) chillers and with-in-row (WIRC) air handling units.

Bryland Fire Protection Limited are delighted to have supported the project, with further modular data centres planned which will offer clients increased flexibility, improved convenience, and cost-saving benefits too!

Prior to lockdown, Sam had been training with the Great Britain Taekwondo squad for two years and is an impressive 3rd Dan Black Belt. Keep going Sam, and here’s hoping that training can soon resume and you will be moved up to the seniors.
